Paid Social Campaigns Course

Paying to promote a social media post does not guarantee useful results. Successful advertising requires a clear objective, a relevant audience, a suitable message and careful control of spending.

PQ Global’s Paid Social Campaigns Course introduces the decisions behind effective social media advertising. You will learn how to plan campaigns, choose advertising formats, manage budgets and evaluate results using meaningful performance data.

Course Duration: 3 Weeks

Allow three weeks to study the main concepts and complete a campaign planning exercise.

  • Week 1: Define advertising objectives, research target audiences and compare platform advertising options.
  • Week 2: Plan campaign structure, select ad formats, develop creative concepts and establish budgets.
  • Week 3: Review performance indicators, explore testing methods and recommend campaign improvements.

Set the Objective Before Setting the Budget

Advertising activity should begin with a defined outcome. A campaign designed to increase brand awareness needs different measures from one intended to generate sales or collect enquiries.

You will learn to connect business goals with campaign objectives and identify the measures that indicate progress. The course also explores how audience characteristics, customer needs and the stage of the buying journey can influence campaign decisions.

How a Paid Campaign Comes Together

The course examines the main components of a social advertising campaign:

  • Platform Selection: Compare advertising options on platforms such as Meta and LinkedIn.
  • Audience Definition: Identify relevant groups using available targeting options.
  • Campaign Structure: Understand how campaigns, ad sets and individual ads are organised, where applicable.
  • Creative Development: Plan visuals, headlines, copy and calls to action.
  • Budget Allocation: Explore daily and lifetime budgets, spending limits and bidding approaches.
  • Placement Choices: Understand where ads may appear and how placement affects presentation.
  • Landing Page Alignment: Ensure the destination page supports the advert’s promise and objective.

You will consider how these elements work together rather than treating each decision separately.

Control Spending and Assess Results

Advertising reports help marketers understand how campaigns use their budgets. You will explore impressions, reach, clicks, click-through rate, cost per click, cost per lead and conversion rate.

The course also introduces return on ad spend (ROAS) and explains why results must be interpreted in context. For example, a low cost per click may look attractive, but it does not necessarily mean a campaign generates valuable customers.

You will examine basic A/B testing, creative comparisons and audience testing. You will also consider advertising policies, privacy requirements and the need for reliable conversion tracking.

A Campaign Brief You Can Put to Work

Your practical assignment will be to prepare an advertising brief for a business, product or service. It will include the campaign objective, intended audience, proposed creative, budget approach and performance measures.

You will then review sample results and recommend what to change, test or retain. This exercise develops planning and evaluation skills without requiring expenditure on a live campaign.
