Audience Engagement Course

A comment left unanswered can become a missed opportunity. A thoughtful reply can help resolve a concern, encourage discussion or show other customers that an organisation listens.

PQ Global’s Audience Engagement Course explores the human side of social media management. It focuses on building relationships through useful conversations, handling public feedback and creating an environment where people feel comfortable participating.

Course Duration: 2 Weeks

The course takes two weeks, including practical exercises in communication and community management.

  • Week 1: Study audience behaviour, conversation techniques, community participation and professional response writing.
  • Week 2: Practise moderation, complaint handling, escalation procedures and the preparation of a community engagement plan.

Turn Followers into Active Participants

An engaged audience does more than view posts. People ask questions, share experiences, contribute ideas and respond to other members.

You will explore how organisations can encourage this participation through relevant discussions, customer questions, feedback requests and interactive activities. You will also consider how to make conversations inclusive and accessible to different audience groups.

Respond with Purpose and Consistency

Every interaction needs an appropriate response. A product enquiry may require factual information, while a complaint needs acknowledgement and a clear route towards resolution.

The course develops skills in:

  • Writing helpful replies that address the actual question.
  • Maintaining a consistent and appropriate brand voice.
  • Recognising when a response needs further investigation.
  • Encouraging constructive discussion without pressuring users.
  • Identifying recurring feedback that may improve products or services.
  • Applying community rules fairly and consistently.

You will practise adapting your response to the situation rather than relying on identical replies for every comment.

Managing Conflict in Public Spaces

Negative feedback is a normal part of online communication. Removing criticism without good reason can damage trust, while arguing publicly can make a situation worse.

You will examine how to acknowledge concerns calmly, correct inaccurate information with evidence and offer practical next steps. The course also explores moderation decisions, spam, abusive comments, privacy concerns and situations that need escalation to a manager or specialist team.

Scenario-based exercises will help you decide when to respond publicly, when to continue privately and when moderation is appropriate.

Create a Community Management Plan

For your practical assignment, prepare a simple plan for a business, organisation or online community. Define its communication tone, response priorities, moderation rules and escalation process. Include sample replies for common questions, positive feedback and complaints.

This task helps you connect communication principles with the daily responsibilities of managing an active social media community.

Who Needs These Skills?

The course is suitable for community managers, social media professionals, customer support teams, marketing students and small business owners. It also supports education institutions and training providers delivering digital marketing programmes.
